Our pick of the best Parkinson’s-friendly, therapeutic holidays in Italy, Spain and Portugal
1. Santa Cruz Movement and Nature House, Portugal
This picturesque, beach-front venue is located at Estrada da Praia in Portugal’s popular southern Algarve region, and describes itself as the world’s first “Movement and Nature House”.
Their team of neuroscience and movement experts have created three packages – from €875, ranging from three days to a fortnight – which blend healthy physical activity with cognitive stimulation and relaxation.

Activities range from the invigorating – like nordic walking, water polo, and bike tours – to more gentle options like Tai Chi, massage and zen archery. The hotel rooms have sea views, and the venue also has a games room, cinema, gym and spa.
It also offers a specialised, intensive six-day experience – Campus Parkinson Programme. Designed exclusively for people living with Parkinson’s disease, the programme will take place between 22–27 February 2026 and 18–23 October 2026.

The full-board programme begins with a comprehensive individual assessment on the first day. This is followed up with a reassessment before checkout, providing a detailed results summary and exercise plan to help continue your progress at home. Inbetween, you can take part in up to five structured group sessions each day, working on motor training, balance, coordination, speech and communication, cognitive stimulation, and more.
Caregivers are also welcome, with educational workshops, shared activities, and social sessions to help foster better understanding and involvement in the therapeutic process.
The experience also includes outdoor walks and leisure activities.
