As the video above from Hellenic Powerlifting Association (ESDT) in Greece shows, people with Parkinson’s are capable of incredible strength, and while traditional weightlifting is more risky for people with Parkinson’s, powerlifting helps strengthen posture muscles, reducing the falls and balance issues which can be common in Parkinson’s. You don’t have to go for the big weights, either – pick a weight that’s comfortable for you.
