A pensioner with Parkinson’s has gone viral with an invention that helps people with restricted mobility get dressed.
Bob Scott, 82, came up with the idea after pulling a muscle when pushing his friend’s wheelchair.
In the 40-second video demonstrating his invention – named ‘Bob’s Flunkey’ – Bob attaches a piece of string to a bulldog clip and clamps it to a door. This allows him to get changed without raising his arm above his left shoulder.
Discussing his invention, Bob said it was for people who struggled with certain physical tasks. “The Flunkey is just a simple idea that will help anyone with a weak arm to get dressed.
“It is cheap, does not need batteries and is available for right and left-handed people.”
Katie Goates, professional communications and engagement programme manager at Parkinson’s UK, said: “Bob has created a simple but effective tool that could help people with Parkinson’s – and other people with reduced mobility – overcome their symptoms and maintain their independence for longer.”
